There is a change of management at RIO, the open, cloud-based solution for the transport and logistics sector. Due to the RIO brand and the Group’s activities in the field of digitalisation playing an increasingly greater role, the Volkswagen Truck & Bus board has agreed on a new set-up: Jan Kaumanns takes over management of RIO, while Markus Lipinsky is in charge of digital initiatives at Volkswagen Truck & Bus, effective immediately.
Markus Lipinsky, the former CEO of RIO has a new role within the Volkswagen Truck & Bus Group. Within his new role, he assumes responsibility for the strategic development of the entire Group’s digital projects, and has accordingly left his position as CEO of RIO with effect from 1st May.
Jan Kaumanns has succeeded him in this role as CEO of RIO with immediate effect, and will be the director of TB Digital Services GmbH. He was born in 1980 in Germany, and worked as a manager at Bain & Company after studying industrial engineering at the Technical University of Berlin and the École Centrale Paris. Jan Kaumanns also holds an MBA from Columbia University. He has been a member of RIO’s management as Vice President for Platform, Partners & Strategy since June 2017.
Markus Lipinsky’s unwavering dedication to making the RIO vision a reality has contributed greatly to securing RIO’s position alongside established companies such as MAN Truck & Bus and Scania in the Volkswagen Truck & Bus Group’s portfolio. “Only very few people have the knowledge, curiosity and drive to push forward new digital business models so successfully – and Markus is one of those people,” states Jan Kaumanns. “I am very pleased with the trust placed in me and look forward to continuing to push the RIO vision forward. Due to his new role in the Volkswagen Truck & Bus Group, Markus and I will also be working closely together in the future.”
Jan Kaumanns will consistently implement RIO’s established course of action – continuously expanding the number of services on the RIO platform. The available services from OEM providers such as MAN DigitalServices and other logistical partner solutions will increase in particular. Kaumanns will also promote the integration of additional Volkswagen Truck & Bus brands onto the platform.
